SNAPSHOT OF 2013 WORLD FM DAY EVENTS

BIFM – United Kingdom 
BIFM groups embraced ‘World FM Day’ in June, with events including the BIFM East Region golf qualifier, the Ireland Region’s FM visit to the Lyric Theatre in Belfast, the Channel Islands branch hosting ‘statutory compliance – everything you need to know but were afraid to ask!’, the Retail SIG’s event at Highcross Leicester Shopping Centre covering ‘slips, trips and falls – risk and mitigation management, Midlands Region at NHBC, Rising FMs, Women in FM and London Region’s joint World FM Day celebrations and finally the North Region summer ball held in Manchester. BIFM Head Office also marked the occasion with colleagues participating in an international bake-off.
FMA Australia – Australia 
Once again FMA Australia continued its tradition of promoting Word FM Day nationally. A series of small events were held in various locations around the country, while the flagship event was hosted by the Victorian Branch at Zinc in Melbourne. The luncheon attracted over 170 senior industry professionals and had a truly global focus with three industry leaders, all dealing with Asia-Pacific or international portfolios, giving insightful presentations on the impact of global FM on the local FM market. FMA Australia was also fortunate to have Global FM Chairman, Duncan Waddell, at the lunch. A life member of FMA Australia, Mr Waddell provided an update on Global FM, followed by the short World FM video and announced the Global FM Awards for Excellence winners.
MEFMA – Middle East 
As an initiative for the world FM Day 2013 and its theme (Creating, Sharing, Learning) MEFMA together with IMDAAD, its founding member and the platinum sponsor of the day this year, have visited Dubai international school in Dubai, UAE, and George Town University in Doha, Qatar and gave presentations about waste management to the students, videotaped it, and showed it at the events. MEFMA has also made a small video from its members in all 8 countries MEFMA has members in which are (UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Jordan, Lebanon), emphasizing on the importance of world FM Day and how would it be celebrated in their country; which was shown at the event as well.
MEFMA has celebrated World FM Day with two 4 hours evening events in Dubai and Qatar at the same time; where 250 and 70 people attended respectively. The events had an opening from MEFMA president and vice president with an introduction about World FM Day and its goal, followed by a couple of presentations, videos, entertainment sessions, a skype call between the two events in Dubai and Qatar; then a quiz and prize giving  and closing by dinner and networking.
ARSEG – France 
On Thursday, 17 June 2013, ARSEG invited its members to celebrate the 5th edition of World FM Day at Schneider Electric headquarters and showroom, “the Hive” site, located in Rueil Malmaison, very close to Paris. Some 100 Work Environment Professionals were gathered on this special occasion. To start with, Patrick Zielinski – Director of Paris sites of Schneider, briefly introduced this  innovation centre and showcase of energy of 35.000 square metres, that host 1.850 employees and 100.000 visitors a year, certified ISO 50001, ISO 14001, HQE exploitation and Breeam in Use. The guests were invited to attend 20 minutes demonstration workshops. Each group has been able to discover Schneider expertise in TBM/CTM, electric fleet, automatic domestic equipment, smart management of spaces among other topics. The winners of the Global FM Awards for Exellence were unveiled after the presentation of their own submissions by Thierry Berthomieu – Leader of the Copernic project of Thales Group and winner of the Silver Award for exellence in FM, and Thomas Henaut and  Pierre-Olivier Pigeot, respectively HR Director of Linkbynet and Associate Director of Saguez Workstyle.  The event ended with a user-friendly cocktail party allowing rich and pleasant networking.
