“Celebrating our environment”
13 May 2020 | Events between 11-15 May 2020
Once a year, the global facilities management community comes together to celebrate the FM industry. World FM Day 2020 is on 13 May, but we encourage the worldwide FM community to celebrate any day of the week of 11-15 May.
This year’s theme is Celebrating our environment, which acknowledges our industry’s respect for the environment and our continuing focus on sustainability.
“This year’s World FM Day celebrates the FM profession and industry role as a key driver of practices that support facility sustainability and resilience,” said Duncan Waddell, Chairman of Global FM. “We recognise that FM professionals have a significant role to play with the environment that we continually seek to minimise impact. FMers create, operate and maintain environments where people work, rest or play in all parts of their lives across the world; as a profession, we want to demonstrate our achievements in the areas of environmental practice where we work in harmony and balance with our world. This is a significant FM responsibility and something that FMers can be proud of in their day to day roles.”
The purpose of World FM Day, initiated by Global FM, is to recognise the vital work that facilities management professionals and the facilities management industry contribute to business worldwide. It aims to raise the profile of the FM profession, not just in member regions, but anywhere FMs influence the health, safety, productivity and well-being of people who utilise the built environment.
“Facilities Management is a US$1.15 trillion global industry, with 65,000 professional and industry participants worldwide,” said Mr Waddell. “World FM Day celebrates the significant contribution that FM makes to the global economy.”
World FM Day facilitates global knowledge-sharing to promote the FM profession, and allows facilities management professionals to reflect on their achievements over the past year and celebrate each other’s successes.
